There are many reasons why parents consider hiring a babysitter including work, after-school help, fun for kids, date nights or just a mother’s helper-type of stuff. Whatever the reason, a good number of parents are not wholly confident with the thought of leaving their kids with a total stranger; this gets even worse if it’s their first push or when they are new to their current location. Therefore, it is imperative that the suster (a common name for babysitters and nannies in Jakarta) hired is skilled enough in dealing with various issues while the parent is away. Here is a guide on how to find the right babysitter in Jakarta, read on!
Use an Online Agency
While searching for a person to take care of the kids, a parent might opt to use an agency. The process starts with registering to an online babysitting agency. A reputable firm will have a comprehensive database of pre-screened, experienced and qualified babysitters as well as a feature that allows members to filter prospective sitters within Jakarta. This makes it a lot easier for caregivers and parents to find susters they can trust. However, it is especially pertinent that the parent set up interviews with potential sitters.
Do Not Make Hasty Decisions
When picking out a babysitter particularly for the first time, it’s critically important that the parent be extra vigilant and do their homework thoroughly. As a helpful rule of thumb, schedule interviews and make relevant inquiries, such as years of experience, skills, qualifications, and if possible ask for references. The parent must make sure that the person who is going to be in charge of looking after their children has the responsible attitude that they look for in susters. Performing background checks and checking her references are a must during any babysitting hiring process. If she does not have the right attitude, then it would probably be a good idea for her to take the search elsewhere. This will go a long way in ensuring that the parents find what they seek and hence avoid frustrating situations.
Do a Trial Run
Sometimes parents find an experienced and highly qualified sitter with glowing references that they love to bits, but the kid doesn’t like them. This is not that tricky as kids change their minds like weather, it is advisable to conduct trial sessions and see how that works out. If the sitter manifests sheer professionalism, and get along with the kid: congrats mama! If it doesn’t work, pay her, thank her and let her know it’s not the right fit at that moment.
Where to Hire Babysitters
There are various points of reference when looking to hire a babysitter in Jakarta, and a relative or a close friend is the best bet. Besides, babysitter firms such as Makelar or Yayasan are the typical places where most of the reliable sitters are found.
The Bottom Line
Hopefully, the above tips on how to find the right babysitter in Jakarta will help any parent start their new job without the worry of leaving their infant to inexperienced and untrained sitters.
